DUI/DWI: A person convicted of  a felony DUI in Alabama will be sentenced to no less than one year and a day.  A person convicted of  a misdemeanor DUI in Alabama will be sentenced to no more than one year. In Alabama, a 0.08 percent or more by weight of alcohol in his or her blood is considering under the Influence. 

Drug Crimes: Drug related offenses ranges from Felony to Misdemeanor charges. Certain illicit drugs, such as cocaine and methamphetamine, are restricted at both the federal and state level. This includes the manufacturing, cultivation, trafficking, distribution and possession of these substances. 

Assault/Battery  Assault or Battery is committed when one person physically strikes or attempts to physically strike another, or when they act in a threatening manner to put another in fear of immediate harm. It is important to note that intent is a necessary element of these crimes.

Domestic Violence;   If the victim and the person accused of committing the crime are in (or were in) what Alabama calls a domestic relationship, then the crime is called a "Domestic Violence Crime." These charges can range from felonies to misdemeanors .There are three degrees of domestic violence crimes in Alabama:  first, second and third degree.

Homicides When someone takes the life of another, regardless of intent or other details surrounding the incident, it is called a homicide. Homicide is not always a crime, such as in cases of self-defense or the state-sanctioned execution of certain convicted criminals. 

Property Offenses: Property crimes include many common crimes relating to theft or destruction of someone else's property. They can range from lower level offenses such as shoplifting or vandalism to high-level felonies including armed robbery and arson.

Sex Crimes: In Alabama, a number of different offenses fall into the sex crimes category, but they generally involve illegal or coerced sexual conduct against another individual. People convicted of sex crimes, regardless of severity, are considered “sex offenders” by their respective state and face having their names added to state and federal sex offender registries.​

Traffic Violations: In Alabama, there are various types of traffic related offense. These offenses are usually Failure to yield right-of-way, Following too closely, Running a stop sign, Failure to wear a seat belt, Improper passing, etc. Alabama considers traffic tickets to be criminal offenses. They are misdemeanors and as such, have a statute of limitations of one year, although that varies with the type of offense and the possible penalties, such as fines, points on a driver's license, traffic school, or license suspension or revocation.

Probation/Parole Violations: If the court finds that you violated the terms of your probation, the court may revoke, modify, or continue your probation. Probation shall not be revoked for violation of a condition or regulation if the probationer had not received a written copy of the condition or regulation.
